Switching Cellphone Providers

Terminating your cellphone service can be a real pain because of the early termination fee penalties. At the start of your cellphone service you sign a contract that says if you abruptly terminate the service then you have to pay a penalty fee. However, there are still ways where you can end your cellphone service without having to pay any fees.

If you do not want to pay the penalty fee, you can transfer the service to one of your family or friends. Both you and the person you are transferring the service to should be present at the service provider store. The contract will be legally transferred to the other person. The service provider will give the other person a copy of the contract which he or she has to sign.

Another case of not having to pay any termination fee is if you move to a location which is outside the coverage area of the service provider. You can talk to a service provider representative and tell them about you changing location and they will most likely cancel your service without paying for any termination fee. You just have to provide proper documentation to prove that you have changed address.

Another loophole is if you encounter changes in the contract. If there are changes made in the contract you can complain about this and make it appear as if you very much disagree with the new terms. Make it look like they are at fault here and then decide to terminate the service. They will be required to accept your cancellation request and you won't have to pay anything.

If your contract is still new and it has not exceeded the 14 day grace period, you can return the phone and cancel within two weeks. The return policy will not cover any termination fee.
